24GB maximum using Unbuffered memory; 48GB using Registered memory. Each processor supports up to 3 channels of DDR3 memory. To realize full performance at least 1 DIMM must be inserted into each channel. To get full 6 channel support, 2 processors MUST be installed. Although these are DDR3-1333 memory options, the speed at which they operate is dependent upon the processor model. NOTE: The use of Registered DIMMs requires a system board with a C2 revision of the Intel 5520 chipset. You can determine the revision of the chipset by using the BIOS setup menu to access the "Boot Block Date" from the "System Information Menu". All systems with a B3 chipset revision will have a "1/30/09" date and systems with a C2 chipset revision will have a "01/07/10" date. An alternative method of determining the chipset revision is by the PCA ID, reported by the Performance Advisor under "System Configuration" and "Baseboard ID". All systems with a B3 chipset revision will have the ID "0AE8h" and all systems with a C2 chipset revision will have the ID "0B54h".
